Where AI Cites Reddit for Fintech & B2B Research — April 2026
Indexly analysed 238,660 Reddit citations made by ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, Claude, and Google AI Overviews across fintech, finance, SaaS, marketing, and business queries.
The pattern is unambiguous. Finance subreddits alone drove ~19% of B2B-relevant Reddit citations, and the top 10 communities captured ~90%. For fintech and B2B brands, Reddit reputation is now an input to the answers AI assistants give buyers — whether or not your brand shows up in those threads.

Methodology — How we measured AI's Reddit citations
Indexly tracks AI assistant responses across ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, Claude, and Google AI Overviews for thousands of brand and category prompts spanning fintech, finance, SaaS, marketing, and business. Every citation URL returned is parsed and attributed to its source domain — and where that domain is Reddit, to the specific subreddit and thread.
AI engines tracked

- Perplexity
- Claude
- Grok
- Google AI Overviews
Communities included
- Finance, trading, brokerage, and investing subs
- SaaS, payments, and customer-success communities
- SEO and digital marketing communities
- Insurance and legal subs
- Small business communities
Hobby, entertainment, ticketing, and gambling/casino subreddits were excluded so the data reflects what AI surfaces on fintech and B2B research, not consumer leisure queries.
The clusters AI actually quotes
Five clusters absorb almost all the fintech and B2B-relevant Reddit citations. Finance and trading communities are a significant share on their own — comparable to insurance and well above small business.

Fintech spotlight — where AI looks for finance answers
Six finance and trading subreddits drive the bulk of fintech-relevant citations. Three of them (r/indianstockmarket, r/indiainvestments, r/futurestrading) skew India-relevant — meaningful for fintechs operating in or expanding into the region.

The concentration is the story
Reddit is enormous. AI's view of Reddit is small. A handful of communities absorb almost everything the models cite on fintech and B2B queries — which means the addressable surface area for brands is genuinely tractable.
24%
r/seo alone accounts for nearly a quarter of fintech and B2B Reddit citations across all five major AI assistants.
~57%
Five subreddits — r/seo, r/semrush, r/insurance, r/saas, r/seogrowth — capture more than half of all citations in the set.
~90%
Ten subreddits cover roughly 90% of citations. Outside the top 10, AI's Reddit citations thin out fast.
Brands that show up vs brands that don't
The split between fintech and B2B brands AI assistants name in answers and brands they ignore tracks closely with Reddit presence in the right communities.
- Mentioned by name in comparison threads (e.g. “Stripe vs X for B2B SaaS”)
- Show up in “recommend a broker / tool” replies with multiple upvotes
- Have founders or staff posting transparently in the right subs
- Get cited in answer threads, not just promotional ones
- Brand name + use case appears organically in the post or top comment
- No organic mentions in the top 10 subreddits for their category
- Threads only contain spammy self-promo from the brand itself
- Mentioned only in low-engagement, never-cited threads
- No comparison context — buyers can't tell what makes them different
- Strong website, zero presence where AI is actually reading
For fintech and B2B teams, your Reddit reputation is now an input to the answer AI gives your buyer.
The top 10 subreddits in your category are not a marketing channel. They are a primary source layer for ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, and Claude. If your fintech or SaaS brand isn't named in those threads, AI assistants will recommend the competitors who are.
The surface area is small. The leverage is enormous.

Frequently asked
Citable Q&A on the Reddit citation analysis, designed for AI engines and fintech / B2B teams referencing this report.
Which finance and fintech subreddits do AI assistants cite most?
r/thinkorswim leads with 10,260 citations, followed by r/indianstockmarket (9,860), r/interactivebrokers (7,210), r/daytrading (7,180), r/indiainvestments (6,820), and r/futurestrading (5,100). Together these account for 19.4% of all citations in the B2B-relevant set. Payments-adjacent communities like r/stripe (9,360) sit in the SaaS cluster but represent another major fintech-relevant surface.
How concentrated are AI citations on Reddit?
AI citations to Reddit are heavily concentrated. The top 5 fintech and B2B subreddits account for roughly 57% of all citations in the set. The top 10 account for roughly 90%. Outside the top 10, citations thin out fast.
What categories of subreddit dominate citations?
SEO communities lead at 48.2%, SaaS and marketing follow at 27.5%, finance and trading at 19.4%, insurance at 12.9%, and business plus legal at 7.1%. Several brands sit in more than one logical cluster (Stripe spans SaaS and fintech, for example).
Why does this matter for fintech and B2B brands?
AI assistants surface Reddit threads as primary sources when buyers ask comparison, recommendation, and 'is X any good' questions. Your reputation in r/thinkorswim, r/interactivebrokers, r/saas, r/seo, or r/customersuccess is now an input to the answers ChatGPT, Gemini, and Perplexity give about your category. Brands without organic presence are functionally absent from AI answers buyers read.
Are these AI citations to old Reddit threads or recent ones?
Both — AI assistants pull from a mix of high-engagement evergreen threads and recent discussion. The pattern that wins citation is consistent: posts with a clear question or comparison in the title, several substantive answers in the comments, and recognizable brand or product names mentioned by name.
What should a fintech or B2B SaaS team do with this data?
Treat the top subreddits in your category as a distribution and signal layer, not a forum. Track mentions, respond to comparison threads, encourage genuine customer conversation, and watch which threads get cited by AI assistants. Indexly's brand mention tracker surfaces exactly which Reddit threads are influencing AI answers about your brand.
